Street Design

Street Design

Cities that set themselves apart from the rest of the world are those that focus on creating a public space that is inviting for people to use and improves a city’s liveability. Great Street Design should enrich the user experience, foster connections between people and their environment, provide a range of opportunities and experiences, and support and encourage public life.

Planning and designing streets using the Street Design section of the Adelaide Design Manual will help to integrate different functions of the street efficiently, harmoniously and sustainably. This design guidance will help to create a welcoming environment that works both as a collection of great places and a sustainable network of transport for all
modes of travel.

The Street Design section of the Adelaide Design Manual should be used when approaching design projects in the city and covers Street Design principles, approaches and Street Design demonstrations.
